Baby Bookworms
Baby Bookworms offers gentle stories and songs for babies and caregivers, followed by playtime. A great opportunity to connect and share experiences! Intended for ages 0-24 months and their caregivers (older siblings welcome.) No registration required. 10:30 am on Thursdays. Storytime! For All Ages
A lively story program that combines books, music, scarves, and shakers. Come prepared to dance! Recommended for ages 0-5. No registration required. 10:30 am on Tuesdays
Read to a Retriever!
ON HOLD UNTIL FALL 2026! Practice reading in a supportive environment with a certified therapy dog! Join Abigail, a six-year-old “Pets and People” certified therapy dog for a one-on-one 15 minute reading session. Abigail is friendly, calm, and non-judgmental, helping young readers build confidence and strengthen literacy skills.
- This program is intended for emerging or independent readers, ages 5 and up.

Teen Takeover Time
Once a month, usually on the first or second Wednesday, join us for a Teen “Takeover” of the Teen Room and Youth Room! For kids in grades 7-12.
There will be snacks and drinks available at the youth desk, but come hang out for any or all of the two and a half hours. Find a quiet corner to do some studying or see if other teens are here to talk books, movies, or anything and make some new friends. Chat with Casey, the teen librarian, about what materials we’re missing (or need more of or just that you love). Sometimes we’ll have an easy craft you can do to destress, and we also have a variety of games available. Invite friends – make the night yours at the library! Our knitters and stitchers are usually here Wednesday nights as well – if you love a good stitchy craft, our experts can help you out too. Casey’s happy to do intros.
Registration is encouraged but we know how schedules are! Feel free to stop by even if you don’t know in advance, there will always be snacks and drinks and a listening ear. Email [email protected] with any questions.

Book Clubs
Together Time Tales
For children in grades 2-3 & their caregivers. Families receive one copy of the book to read together. Books available 2 weeks prior to meetings. From November – June, first Monday of the month from 6:00-6:45 PM. Snacks and light refreshments served. 4-6 Grade Book Club

Parent/Child Book Group for 6-7 Graders
COMING JANUARY 2027. Kids in grades 6 and 7 and a caregiver are invited to a special book discussion. What better way to spend quality time with your tween than by sharing a love of literature? Gaming Programs
All Things Gaming
Join us monthly for adventures into All Things Gaming! Each month, we’ll have a couple different gaming options available for kids, ranging from learning Magic: The Gathering, playing with a Switch 2, Pokemon Card trading (and games and crafts), classic and newer board games (Twister anyone?), maybe some puzzles ala an escape room, possibly things like Full Sized Pac-Man, and more. There will be at least two options each month, which will be in the program description before registration opens. Some months will have repeat activities.
September: Pokemon card trading and more, plus our Legos will be out with challenges to complete for prizes (or free play)!
October: Magic: the Gathering gaming/learning and board games, including Twister and a few other bigger games!
November: Switch 2 gaming (party games, come prepared to share), Pokemon Card Trading, and a selection of tabletop board games.
December: Life-Sized Pac-Man and some space for Magic: The Gathering or other similar card games (such as Pokemon) play

Adventure Kids
Join librarian and Game Master Casey for some fun games that could be described as Dungeons & Dragons lite for our younger kids. The rules, math, and reading are simpler d the games a bit easier to understand. We’ll rotate through a different game each session with eventual repeats.
For grades 2-4. Registration is required. Parents are welcome to stay and listen in, but please register only the children playing. For more information, email [email protected]

Chess for Kids
Chess players of all ages and abilities are encouraged to come play chess! Members of the LSHS Chess Club will be hosting. For beginners or experienced players. Bring your own board or play with one of ours. Please email [email protected] with any questions! For ages 5+. Drop in. No registration required. Check calendar for upcoming dates!
Intergenerational Chess
Join us every third Wednesday for Intergenerational Chess play times! NOTE: September and October, due to other programs, will be slightly different weeks. After that, it will be consistently the third Wednesday. Open to chess aficionados of all ages (5-105), come drop in to play a game or two with a like-minded opponent. Bring your own board or use one of ours. For our real hardcore players, if your game runs over the hour, no worries, we have some wiggle room on time.
Dungeons & Dragons: Grades 4-6
Join librarian and Game Master Casey for an hour of D&D adventure! New adventurers and seasoned pros are all welcome! Each month will be its own separate one shot so no need to be able to make all of them. Any questions, feel free to email [email protected].
All materials will be provided: dice, character sheets, pencils and paper, access to the Player’s Handbook, but if you wish to bring your own from home, feel free! All character should be level 1-3.
For grades 4-6. Registration is required. Please just register the child attending. Expectations will be sent prior to each meeting. D&D can be a complicated game and kids currently unable to focus and handle the hour will be asked to try again in a couple of months without judgment.
Meets every other month, Mondays at 3:30-4:30.
