Saturday, October 18, 2025: Gaetano Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia
Lucrezia Borgia may not belong to the “Tudor” trilogy of Donizetti operas, but it is among the most challenging operas for the lead soprano. Lucrezia is legendary for poisoning her enemies with arsenic to revenge earlier disparagements.
Cast: Renée Fleming, Michael Fabiano.
Our presenter, Erika Reitshamer, is returning to Lincoln Library with a 5-week opera course on French operas. She has been presenting opera lectures for the Friends of Lincoln Library since 2015. Erika is a lifelong student and lover of opera who thoroughly enjoys passing on her passion to others. She was active in the formation of the Boston Lyric Opera Company more than 45 years ago, led opera tours to Europe and served as Vice President of the Boston Wagner Society for many years. She taught opera appreciation for Lifelong Learning at Regis College for a decade and lectures at libraries, town halls and retirement communities. Her last offering for Lincoln Library was a course of five French Operas in the fall of 2024.
