Get a Library Card

It’s Easy!

Present a photo ID and proof of your current address at the Circulation Desk. Massachusetts residency is required to get your library card and some services are restricted to Lincoln residents only such as Research Tools, Hoopla, and Kanopy.

Minuteman Library cards are valid for five years. All Library cards can be renewed easily at the checkout desk by verbally confirming your information. If you have moved, you are required to notify Library staff.

Children & Teens

Children birth through grade 8 may receive a card when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

The signature of a parent or guardian is not required for anyone from Grade 6 through age 17 years if the applicant can provide a photo ID and proof of address. Otherwise, the parent or legal guardian must provide proof of identification and address and sign the teen’s application. The teen must be present at the time the card is issued.

Start From Home

Save time by filling out the registration form at home. You will be issued a temporary library card number that is good for up to 6 months. Within that period, stop by with valid identification to be given your permanent card.

Your Library Account

You can access your online library account with your library card number and a password.

You can see what you have checked out, renew your materials, manage requests, and pay fines even when the library is closed.

Lost Cards

There is no charge to replace a lost or damaged library card. Bring a photo ID to any Circulation Desk to receive a replacement card.

You are responsible for all materials taken out on your card until the date when you report the card lost. Please tell us immediately if your card is lost.

Out-of State Residents that work in Massachusetts, are students in Massachusetts, own property in Massachusetts or are living temporarily in Massachusetts may be issued a MLN card. Out-of state residents must provide identification showing their home address. Property owners must provide ID such as a tax bill or utility bill for their Massachusetts property. Students must verify their status with school identification and provide their permanent home address.

Temporary Residents must show proof of their current address. They must also show proof of a permanent home address. These cards expire within 6 months of issue.
